German Chocolate Cupcake recipe from Urban Bakes

Ingredients

    • 1 (4 oz.) Baker’s German’s sweet chocolate
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 4 large eggs, separated
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    • 1 cup buttermilk
FROSTING
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter or margarine
  • 1 (7 oz.) package sweetened coconut flakes
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
